Partner, Thomas C. Martin was tapped to prepare an article for the New Jersey Community Associations Institute for its next upcoming magazine publication called Community Trends. www.cai-nj.org. Mr. Martin’s article will discuss and address pending legislation in New Jersey impacting community associations and the impact of Covid 19 on efforts to enforce the master deed and by-laws. Among other things, current legislation is being debated in the New Jersey legislature to expand the “homestead” exemption under federal Bankruptcy law. This will have an impact on community associations across New Jersey. The article sets out the proposed terms of the pending law and possible amendments to protect community associations under the existing current challenges and times.
