Sophy Sedarat

Sophy Sedarat has been in the private practice of law since 2008 and currently serves as the Zoning Board of Adjustment Attorney in Oakland, New Jersey, where she also serves as the Borough’s Alternate Public Defender. Ms. Sedarat is formally trained in mediation and dispute resolution and serves as a Panelist for the Bergen County Matrimonial Early Settlement Panel program, a court-mandated program designed to assist matrimonial litigants resolve their economic issues and reach a settlement in their cases. Sophy’s practice philosophy is centered around providing a uniquely personalized approach to each client’s individual needs with tenacity, decisiveness, and confidence.

Ms. Sedarat completed her undergraduate studies at Stevens Institute of Technology, obtained her law degree from Albany Law School, and her Master of Arts in Policy, Ethics and Technology from Stevens Institute of Technology, graduating first in her class. Sophy also obtained her Master of Laws (cum laude) in Environmental Law from Pace Law School, which is ranked first in the nation for their Environmental Law program.

Ms. Sedarat is a member of the Bergen County Bar Association, the New Jersey State Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. She is also on the pro bono attorney roster for the Animal Legal Defense Fund. Additionally, Ms. Sedarat is an adjunct professor, teaching law and sociology to undergraduates.
