Matt Mills is his clients’ first call when they are faced with questions about their families or businesses.

On the personal side, Matt routinely advises: individuals and couples on proper estate planning; executors and trustees with respect to their fiduciary obligations and administration issues; beneficiaries with respect to their rights under Wills and Trusts; and clients who are seeking to become guardians to protect their parents, siblings or children.  In these regards, Matt has represented clients with concerns within the United States as well as internationally, including Canada, the Republic of Ireland, the United Kingdom, the Kingdom of Belgium, the Swiss Confederation, the Hellenic Republic, and the State of Israel.  When necessary, Matt has successfully represented his clients in litigation related to these matters in the courts of New Jersey and New York.

On the business side, Matt not only walks clients through the formalities of selecting and adopting the appropriate form of entity, but throws himself into the growth and success of the business by advising on the appropriate forms of funding, intellectual property and trademark sharing agreements,  non-compete agreements for essential employees, “key person” insurance agreements, asset purchase agreements, and management succession planning, including buy-sell agreements.

In addition, Matt has routinely formed charitable organizations and advised them regarding their operations and reporting obligations.  In serving as general counsel to a charitable organization, Matt reviewed and scrutinized employment contracts, employee handbooks, and third-party provider agreements, including those with national and international communication networks.  Matt has also routinely prepared information returns on behalf of charitable organizations.
